Fee Increase Effective July 30, 2007 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) will raise their application fees on July 30, 2007. As a result, adoptive families will face higher fees for their applications. "This rule is effective July 30, 2007. Applications or petitions
mailed, postmarked, or otherwise filed, on or after July 30, 2007 must include the new fee" (U.S. Federal Register, May 30, 2007 p. 29851). Fees Increases Affecting Adopting Families
1-600a now $670
Fingerprints now $80
1-824 now $340
N-600K now $460
I-824 Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition.
This is used to move a family's I-171h approval from one country to another. N-600K Application for Citizenship and Issuance of Certificate under Section 322. This is used to file for a citizenship certificate for an adopted child. Extension of I-600a Approval (I-171h) CIS will extend by 18 months an original I-171h approval without additional fees. The USCIS Fee Schedule states, "If you already have an approved I-600A that is about to expire, and have not yet filed your I-600 petition, you can receive one free extension of your I-600A by filing a new I-600A without fee before the first expires."
Conditions
*The first request for extension of the I-171h will be accepted without a fee if the request is filed in advance of the expiration of the I-171H, and no I-600, has been filed with USCIS for adjudication.
*This no charge extension is limited to only one occasion.
*A complete application and fee must be submitted for any subsequent application. *No biometric (fingerprint) fee will be charged for an update of an approved I-600a. |
